Real Housewives of Cheshire star Katie Alex has revealed that it was her husband, Mason, who convinced her to join the show.
Chatting to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on the showbiz gossip programme Access All Areas, the reality star revealed that, at first, she was reluctant to join the show and it ended up being her husband Mason who persuaded her to say yes to producers:
“My initial reaction when I was asked, if I’m honest, was not a cat in hell’s chance, because I’ve watched the show and I know what it’s about. When I was asked again, I was like should I, shan’t I, it would be great to let women in the general public know what I do for a living. It’s an experience.”
She continued: “My husband is like, do whatever you want, I think you should do it. He’s a chance taker, so it was kind of Mason in the end that convinced me to do it and I’m glad I did it.”
When asked by Bobby what the hardest part was when first entering the show, Katie Alex responded saying:
“I guess the history with one of the other housewives [Lauren Simon] and the fact that the other cast members didn’t quite understand that. It wasn’t as though I didn’t know anybody, and that they all had to get to know me as this person they’d never met. There was always this established connection. It was really tricky, and a really interesting dynamic that was going to go one or two ways.”
The 32-year-old then opened up about the drama between her and co-star Lauren Simon who used to date her husband:
“There is a lot that the public doesn’t know and that involves my husband’s friendship with her ex-partner, he was friendly with us, and they had their issues … it goes a little bit deeper than Lauren dating Mason twenty years ago. Lauren has also remained a friend of the family, she is my mother-in-law’s really close friend, so there is a little bit more to it than that.”
She then mentioned how she found the dynamic with Lauren more awkward than she thought it would be:
“To be honest I thought I would be able to lean on Lauren a bit, I contacted her before the show, I was nervous, I was scared, I’ve done nothing like this before. It’s all alien to me … I feel like Lauren knew that I probably would do it [the show]. It was really difficult, and I wasn’t expecting what I got.”
Also in the interview, the aesthetic nurse hinted at what to expect from the reunion episode of this season:
“S**t went down … [the drama] might just roll over.”
