Fitness sensation Kris Boyson claims exercise is as good as antidepressants

This week on Access All Areas, personal trainer, and fitness influencer Kris Boyson joined hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng to talk about the positive effects of fitness on mental health.

When asked about the effects of physical exercise on mental health, the 29-year-old said: “I don’t think enough people know that or have the knowledge or have been told about how it does affect your mental health and the benefits that training has. I mean, they reckon that exercise is just as good as, and by the way, I’m not telling people not to take antidepressants, but I reckon that exercise is just as good, you know? And sometimes if not better.”

He continued: “Because you don’t get into that vicious circle of feeling crap and relying on other things. Whereas, with your exercise, not only are you feeling better with yourself. You tend to end up looking better as well. So, you get into a good cycle of feeling better, looking better, ‘Oh ok. I don’t mind doing this exercise.’ You know?”
