First Dates’ Merlin Griffiths on pubs reopening this year: “I think we have to be wary, there’s a balance.”

Last week on Access All Areas, First Dates’ Merlin Griffiths joined hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng to share his opinion about COVID and the hospitality industry,

Speaking about pubs and their potential reopening this year, the 46-year-old said: “Do you know what? It’s a fine balance, isn’t it? We’ve got reports saying anything as early as late February, March and anything as late as June, July. I think we have to be wary, there’s a balance.”

He continued: “I don’t want to see pubs reopen too early. In the sense that you might get some kind of resurgence, then you get more closures again. This whole opening closing, opening closing, opening closing thing gets very very wearing. Not only on operators but also on our guests.”
