X Factor’s Janet Devlin supports Misha B amid racism row

This week on Access All Areas, X Factor star Janet Devlin spoke candidly about her time on the show and shared her views on her co-star Misha B’s admission of bad treatment throughout the contest.

Speaking to hosts Joanna Chimonides and Stephen Leng, the Irish singer explained how Misha was one of her closest friends during her time on the show and that ‘out of everybody there, all she wanted to do was lift people up and support them.’

Janet went on to explain how she could never understand how Misha was always in the bottom two despite being one of the most original performers on the show. Only recently did she question why that might be the case: ‘I obviously didn’t think so much of the possibility of it being racially motivated but I suppose that was naivety. I literally came from a small town in Ireland and thrown on the television. I’d never really seen racial issues because of the lack of diversity and racism where I come from.’

After one of her performances,  judge Tulisa Contostavlos called Misha a bully, something that didn’t sit well with Janet: “I definitely remember being very upset… Obviously for the fact that, I knew who was bullying that year and I was like, ‘you’ve got the wrong guy!’”

You can hear the full chat with Janet as well as actor Matthew Morrison and Love Island’s Biggs Chris from 6PM on Thursday.
