Made in Chelsea’s Robbie Mullett revealed he and his boyfriend opened up their relationship to a third man on the upcoming new series.

Chatting to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on the showbiz gossip programme Access All Areas, the reality star revealed he and his boyfriend Joel Mignott brought a fellow castmate into their relationship: “In terms of what we [himself and Joel] went through, what I can tell you is that we explored consensual non-monogamy, which is a frighteningly large term. It’s a very hot topic.”

He described how the situation came about while filming the new series of Made in Chelsea in Corsica: “We were in Corsica and someone had joined the cast that we thought was attractive so we thought “hello!” and we had a chat. It meant opening the relationship and investigating the implications for Joel and I, all the emotions involved. It was tough. For my relationship at least, I found that when you open it up, it kind of rips the rug out from underneath you.”

Joel continued: “What I mean by that is that the security that you otherwise derive from knowing that that’s your only partner, it doesn’t necessarily disappear, but they could be fostering feelings for someone else in that moment that you’ve consensually invited in. So where’s the security then in the relationship? If its not that, then what? So then I really had to think about how does Joel know that I love him? How do I know that I speak his love languages? And I realised that I didn’t. So it was an emotional journey we went on.”

Later in the interview, host Bobby Norris asked if they had had a threesome on the show, and Robbie responded by hinting that there may have been: “I wouldn’t use that term. I think the more appropriate one is consensual non-monogamy. It sounds a lot more professional and nicer. We opened the relationship and it’s a topic that deserves normalising on television. I think we don’t see enough of it and it is happening and there is an enormous taboo and stigma around it.”
