Love Island’s Mehdi Edno revealed that he has been in contact with his former Love Island partner Whitney Adebayo’s family and is meeting with them next week.

Chatting to host Bobby Norris and guest co-host Ellen Coughlan on the showbiz gossip programme Access All Areas, the reality star revealed he believed Whitney would win the competition: “I am [missing Whitney]. I’ve been in contact with previous islanders and Whitney’s sister and mum. I think she’ll win the show. I’m not surprised she’s favourite to win.”

He continued: “I was supposed to meet her family but I’ve been on holiday for three weeks. But I’ve been in touch with Whit’s sister and I’m seeing them next week.”

The Frenchman also said that he supported Whitney’s decision to couple up with her current partner Lochan Nowacki: “Being with Lochan, I feel like she has made the right decision for herself. She knows herself and she knows what’s best for her, so I think she made the right choice coupling up with him.”

Later in the interview, Mehdi revealed that some of the islanders had been suspected of being ingenuine due to being avid watchers of the show previously: “I don’t think that there’s any gameplayers, but I do think that there are Love Island superfans that know the ultimate recipe to succeed, which is something I didn’t know.”

He continued: “I know that Scott [van der Sluis] loves the show very much so I think he knows what happened in most seasons, when to do this, when to do that. When I was in the villa, I don’t feel like this was forced but when you know a show you know what to expect.”
