In an announcement outside Downing Street this morning, Theresa May has called for a general election to take place on June 8th.
It comes as a shock after May had repeatedly denied she would hold a snap election, but the announcement means the British people will go to the polls for a third major vote in three years in June.
France and Germany have also got elections this year, so why not join the party, eh Twitter?
People were hoping for a slightly different announcement.
