Lizzie Cundy Splits Opinions on First Dates

FUBAR’s very own queen of showbiz Lizzie Cundy spoke on ITV’s This Morning about men paying for the bill on a first date ”I think every woman – if you’re honest – wants to be treated, especially on a first date.”

Defending First Dates contestant Mary, Lizzie told chat show hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford “It’s not about the money, there’s lots of places you can go that’s not expensive. It’s manners!” Mary who recently took part in Channel 4’s First Dates refused to split the bill with her match which kicked up a huge fuss during the last part of their date.

Also sat on the ITV sofa was journalist Alison Phillips who tried to put Lizzie to the test, claiming men should think about other ways to impress potential dates rather than just with their wallets. She suggested the male could turn up with a gift or ”talk to her about things she’s interested in, rather than himself.”

However Lizzie was defended by show host Eamonn, who even defended Lizzie against wife Ruth, who thought every situation was different.

Although opinions were split, Lizzie received a lot of love on Twitter, all agreeing that men should pay on the first date. One tweet said “I’m with you Lizzie I’m an old fashioned girl too.”

Lizzie talks about opinion splitting topics and showbiz gossip on her weekly show, co-hosted with OK! Online’s Stephen Leng. Access All Areas takes over FUBAR every Thursday from 6pm.
