Uncensored and Unregulated FUBAR Radio Receives Local Support from Midven

When it comes to irreverence, the West Midlands has form – think Glee Club, Ozzy Osbourne and Tiswas, to name but a few. Now the region has notched up another iconoclastic first:  Fubar Radio.

Fubar is the brainchild of Dorridge-based Duncan Smith, who has 34 years media experience, including BAFTA and Brit award winning programming. During a 10 year stint at Central Television, including heading up a commercial division for ITV (Central Music) he created over 300 hours of music and comedy programmes.

It is the station that dare not speak its name pre-watershed. But ****ed Up Beyond All Radio is making waves as the UK’s first digital station dedicated to broadcasting uncensored talk radio, comedy and music. Many will be familiar with some of its hosts – comedians Justin Lee Collins, Sean Hughes, Richard Herring and Mark Dolan.

The station recently hit the headlines when Collins fell for an April Fool’s prank call from a Mick Hucknall impersonator claiming to be calling from the Simply Red frontman’s law firm. The joke had in fact been set up by Fubar’s management team following claims made by Collins about the singer.

Headline-grabbing antics aside, Fubar is growing at an impressive rate, thanks in part to venture capital funding from Birmingham’s Midven. The funding is enabling CEO Duncan Smith to extend the reach of the cutting-edge station that he says is “provocative, entertaining, no-holds-barred chat, comedy and uncensored music that could never be heard anywhere else on UK radio.”
