This week was the third week of the Pitch Talk World Cup specials, and Rachael and Olivia were joined by professional referee Ryan Atkin, who is England’s first football referee officiating in the professional leagues to come out as gay, and sports broadcaster Alison Bender. Ryan was talking to the girls about coming out in a football environment, as well as ways the sport can develop to improve LGBT+ support, as well as his opinions on VAR and England’s chances in the World Cup. Meanwhile, Alison was on the phone live from Moscow ahead of England’s last 16 fixture against Colombia and spoke about the atmosphere in the tournament as a whole, and her thoughts on the Gareth Southgate revolution!
