The latest member of Nick Helm and Nathaniel Metcalfe’s Fan Club is legendary boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.

The Matchroom Sport managing director recently stated that he was hoping to bring fans back to boxing in the coming weeks. Eddie also complained about the implementation of social bubbles in sports events, he explained: “We’ve got a big fight this Saturday, and I’m in the bubble which is something that we have to create now [in] all live sports events, which is very costly and very socially disruptive.”

When asked about the practical functioning of a social bubble, he replied: “You turn up. You go into a room. You get tested. You’re not allowed to see anyone or talk to anyone and you are given your room key you go into your room and you wait for the results. We’ve done now 720 tests. Only two people have tested positive and I was one of them. [it was] 4 weeks ago. So, I was over the moon with that one!”

When asked about his COVID-19 infection, Eddie said: “I didn’t feel great. I mean I felt like I had a really bad cold. You know, the kind of cold that you tell people is flu but actually, it wasn’t really flu. On this occasion, it was COVID-19. The worst thing was that I gave it to my dad, who is 72. He laughed and said, ‘I can’t believe I gave you an empire and you gave me COVID-19!’ So, he wasn’t particularly happy with that.”
